My fourth tip for
surviving college is to go to all your classes. Yes, there will be days when
you are sick or do not want to go. However, when you skip class it is hard to
get the material you missed. Also, in college if you skip a day that you had a
test the only way most professors will let you make it up is if you have a
doctor note. When you have assignments due most professors will not accept them
if you do not turn them the day they are due.
If you have a valid
reason to skip class, make sure to email the professors and let them know. When
you email them to let them know they are more willing to let you make up the
work or get you the material you missed. However, sometimes in classes attendance
counts towards your grade. Some professor’s give students extra credit when they
do not miss any classes. Some professor’s also take away class points when you
miss so many classes. They usually give you three classes to miss.
When you do not skip
class and you show up on time it can also work in your favor if you ask that
professor to be a reference for your resume. It also shows the professor that
you care about that class and if you are struggling they are willing to help because
you put effort into going to class. When you skip class, your grades start to
slip. In college it is very easy for you GPA to drop but it is very hard to
raise it once it is dropped. A lot of the times your GPA has to be a certain
score to keep scholarships and to stay involved in the organizations you get
involved in.
Not skipping class is
one of the best tips I can give you when trying to make it through college. If
you do not go to class, then you not going to make it through college. Classes
are the most important thing about your college experience because you are
there to find a career and to pursue something you enjoy. An hour-long lecture
three days a week is not going hurt you to go but it could effort your grade
forever. College is only four years of your life go to class, work hard, do your
school work, study hard and you will be fine.
