Tip #3 Join a Sorority/Fraternity!

My third tip to surviving college is to join a sorority or fraternity. Trust me they are nothing like the movies. Yes, some Greek life organizations do live up to their stereotypes but most of them do not. There are so many benefits to being in a sorority or fraternity. You will make so many memories with your sisters or brothers. This is also a great way to make new friends. There are a lot of members in sororities and fraternities. This does not mean you have to like or be friends with all of them, but they will always have your back when you need them too.

One great advantages of being in a sorority or fraternity is that is gives you so many leadership opportunities. In a sorority or fraternity, they have chair positions that you can run for whether it be the president, vice president, or maybe just being in charge of fundraising. These leadership opportunities look good on a resume. It also shows that you were involved and can work with others.

Another advantage to being in a sorority or fraternity is that you have events with other Greek life organizations on campus or even off campus. This is a great way to meet a bunch of new people and to make new friends. Some sororities and fraternities are national. This means that other universities and colleges have the same sorority or fraternity, but they have different chapters. In some cases, they have events where the sorority or fraternity from all around the world meet up at one college or university and get to meet members from other colleges.

Another advantage is you get a big and little. A big is your big sister or brother. They are someone you can always go to and they are also your best friend. A little is your little sister. They are someone you look out for. Your big and little are someone your going to have forever. In most organizations you have family lines. This just shows who your big’s big is and so on.

These are just some advantages to being in a sorority or fraternity. However, it is sometimes just not for some people. Even if you are not in a sorority or fraternity you can still be friends with people who are in one. Also, with this being said if you are in a sorority or fraternity you can still be friends with people in other organizations. There are so many advantages to being in a Greek organization and I would definitely recommend considering it.
